Holidays

Well, Christmas is over and the new year is almost here. I hope everyone had a great vacation. (I hope everyone had a vacation!)

We had a great one. Becky's brother and sister-in-law and my nephew came out from New York. The only thing to put a slight damper on things was the fact that everyone had a cold. At least I waited until after Christmas for mine. ;-)

Google Technology

Google Technology

So that's how they do that! I've always wondered why it was so hard to spoof search results on Google.

Now if they could just get those darn pigeons to understand english...

New Photo Site

I'm now sharing my photo's on Flikr, so you can see the newest at the top of my blog.

New images

I've posted a couple new images on my renderosity gallery. Take a look, if it please you.

Thing go boom!

Man, are we having a storm! I was so tired this morning that I slept right through my alarms (yes, plural, cause I'm a sound sleeper) only to be awoken an hour later by the thunder! It shook the whole house.

New picture post on renderosity

I've posted a new picture on my renderosity gallery. The picture is quite old. I've got many more to post, but Renderosity only lets you post one a day, so it'll take a while to get caught up.

Cute Overload! ;) - This one's for Mari

Cute Overload! ;)

It should be manditory to show one of these pictures before and after every news story and on the front page of every newspaper.

The world would be a better place...

Internet encyclopaedias go head to head : Nature

Internet encyclopaedias go head to head : Nature

It just goest to show that if two heads are better than one, 10,000 heads are almost as good as several highly paid heads.

Seriously, though, the Wikipedia is vastly superior in at least one way: it's articles are way more up to date. In some cases, scientifc articles are updated hours after discoveries are announced. As opposed to print encyclopaedias, which typically take a year, but really take an eternity because who really gets an updated encyclopaedia every year?

Narnia

I saw The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe today. It was the best book to movie ever. Obviously, whoever wrote the screenplay loved the book. That's all, I will say, so as not to ruin things.

Hey, I'm typing one handed!

Well, after a long wait, I finally got my frogpad! The frogpad is a chording keyboard, designed for one handed use. It is statistically designed to be ergonomic, and you never have to move your hand from the mouse.

The only drawback is that I've been typing on a QWERTY keyboard for 24 years... Nearly every day. Apparently that makes for a very hard habit to break. I went from about 100 words a minute to maybe ten.

Oh, sure, I've only been using this for an hour, so I guess I should wait to judge.

10th anniversary of the repeal of the national speed limit. Hazah for rationality!

Someone at my work pointed this article out to me today. I had no idea that it had been ten years since the repeal of the national speed limit. This article gives a good history on how it came about. Now if we could just get the same thing to happen for carpool/commuter lanes...

Can you spot the computer images?

Here's a test of your skills at identifying art created on a computer versus real photographs.

New email notification!

If you'd like to receive an email when a new thought is posted, please put your name in the textbox in the upper-right of this page and click "subscribe".

Audioticons

Someone should add a feature to instant messaging that replaces certain words with a picture/animation and sound bite, like a smiley giving the thumbs up and saying "Ok!" instead of showing the word when someone types "ok".

FlightGear Flight Simulator

This is pretty cool. I just wish they had a Pocket PC version. :-)
